Gloucester County Recycling Office

The Gloucester County Recycling Office has requested that residents refrain from throwing hypodermic needles and other medical waste/containers into recycling bins. These items are NOT recyclable and must be disposed of properly.

In order to provide the best possible service to residents, the Public Works Department asks that all residents move their vehicles off the street during ice and snow storms. This will allow for quicker and safer plowing and de-icing.

Holiday trees may be placed curbside up to and including the second week of January for free removal and disposal

The Department of Public Works maintains the Township roads, buildings, and grounds. They also coordinate trash and recycling matters and perform white goods removal services

Gloucester County Schedules Eight Separate Household Special Waste Drop-off Events in 2009

Residents can drop-off their oil-based paint, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, CFL bulbs, fluorescent tubes, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, and similar materials. This is a free service for Gloucester County residents only. Businesses are not permitted to participate.

This year household special waste will be accepted at the

Gloucester County Solid Waste Complex, 493 Monroeville Rd, South Harrison Township

on March 14, April 4, May 9, July 11, Sept. 12, and Oct. 11.

It will also be accepted at the Gloucester County Public Works Department, 1200 N. Delsea Dr. , Clayton on May 16 and Oct. 17.

All events are conducted rain-or-shine and start at 8 am and end at 2 pm. No materials will be accepted after 2 pm. For more information on the 2009 HSW Collection Program or to receive a detailed brochure that includes all materials accepted and maps to the drop-off sites, please contact the GCIA/Office of Recycling at (856) 478-6045 ext. 14.
